The Eagles played their best football game of the season last Sunday. So after a week away from practice, there is a risk of rust.
But Chip Kelly sees a bye week as nothing but a positive feature of the NFL schedule.
“We had been at it for 10 straight weeks,” Kelly said, “so you get a little chance to rest up, get away from it for a little bit, not only physically, but mentally, so I look at it as a plus.”
It seems this is a true statement. The Birds have Mychal Kendricks back in practice, and have gotten good news on three key injuries, Darren Sproles, Evan Mathis and Jason Kelce — who could start working with the team ahead of schedule.
“He’s just coming off of surgery,” Kelly said of Kelce. “I hope he ties his shoes right, and we’re going to put him in some individual drills and see what he can do.”
The Eagles are getting closer and closer to being at full strength.
“Sproles is practicing, Polk is practicing, Kendricks is practicing,” Chip Kelly said, “Everybody is practicing.”
No decisions have been made on who will play Sunday yet.
