Chip Kelly offered no update on Mike Vick's injured hamstring Monday afternoon, nor did the coach name his starting quarterback for Sunday's game. Kelly admitted that he hadn't even spoken to Vick and probably wouldn't until he showed up for Tuesday's practice.
"I don't know until those guys get here and start running around a little bit tomorrow," Kelly said.
Until then — and maybe not even then — expect little information to escape Kelly's lips about the Eagles' muddled quarterback position.
"Until we know what the health is I'm not saying what anybody or anybody is," Kelly said. "All of my decisions are made whether it's James Casey with a groin or Mike with a hamstring or Chris Polk with a shoulder. All our decisions on who is going to play is based on health."
There was one misconception Kelly found time to clear up. LeSean McCoy was quoted as saying the coach had informed the team that Vick was still the starter after Sunday's 31-20 win in Tampa.
"Mike's the guy we go with, he's the starting quarterback, no matter what the town says or what the outsiders want," McCoy told reporters. "It's coach Kelly's call, and that's the call he's made."
But, according to Kelly, that conversation never happened.
"I have no idea what he's talking about," Kelly said. "Me and LeSean, we didn't talk about anything like that after the game so I don't know where the reference of after the game, I said that, so I don't know."
