Tom Brady has missed a big play receiver since Randy Moss was dealt to Minnesota in 2010 and the Patriots quarterback would surely welcome an upgrade at the receiver position after struggling to find rhythm, at times, with rookie receivers Aaron Dobson, Kenbrell Thompkins and Josh Boyce in 2013.

One name that Pats fans have been clamoring for for some time now is Arizona wideout Larry Fitzgerald. While the idea seemed far-fetched, a report by CSNNE’s Tom Curran Tuesday said that the Patriots inquired about trading for Fitzgerald last offseason. According to a source of Curran’s, the Pats “sent out feelers to gauge the feasibility” of trading for Fitzgerald in 2013.

The Patriots could have a better chance of landing Fitzgerald this offseason given that Arizona desperately needs to shed salary. According to Curran’s report, the 30-year-old Fitzgerald would count $18 million against the Cardinals’ salary cap.

The eight-time Pro Bowler and one time All-Pro (2008) ripped off five straight seasons of 1,000-plus yard production from 2007-2011.
