Michael Vick finalist for 2012 Madden cover

Coming soon to a video-game store near you: angry animal rights’ activists loaded with picket signs.

No, really.

Eagles QB Michael Vick is a finalist to grace the cover of Madden NFL 2012. After starting with 32 candidates, the field is down to Vick and Browns running back Peyton Hillis.

Vick took to Twitter yesterday, writing: “WE MADE IT TO THE FINALS OF THE MADDEN COVER VOTE !”

The winner will be revealed on ESPN’s “SportsNation” show on April 27 at 4 p.m. The game will be released on August 30. Cast your vote at: www.espn.go.com/sportsnation/feature/madden2012cover.

PETA has already voiced its displeasure with Vick’s candidacy. They sent letters to the game’s developer — EA Sports — asking that Vick be banned.

“We believe that Michael Vick, as the runner-up in MVP for the league and the comeback player of the year, deserved his slot,” said EA Sports President Peter Moore. “I’m not here to comment on what he did.”
