Boston University (23-9, 15-3) showed why it is the number one seed in the Patriot League tournament Wednesday night as the Terriers dominated ninth-seeded Lafayette (11-20, 6-12), winning 91-54.

The Terriers offense was firing on all cylinders, as the team shot a collective 66 percent from the floor, including 10-of-21 from 3-point land.

Boston U.’s defense was equally impressive, as Lafayette could only muster 36 percent shooting.

Maurice Watson Jr. showed the way for the Terriers, grabbing 21 points, eight assists, seven rebounds and four steals, leading his team in each category. The Terriers advance to the next round of the Patriot League tournament where they will host Army (Saturday, 3:30 p.m.), who they narrowly beat in West Point just last week.

UMass, thanks to the help of Trey Davis’ 20 points off the bench, was able to overcome a slow start and beat Duquesne, 78-74.

The Dukes (12-16, 4-11), riding the momentum of their big win over a ranked St. Louis squad, opened up a 27-16 lead midway through the first half. But then the Minutemen (23-6, 10-5) went on a 21-6 run, and when the first half ended UMass found themselves up 41-40.

The Dukes fell behind by as many a seven points in the second half, but did not give up, as they went on a small run and took the lead 72-71 with 2:43 to play. But then Trey Davis sunk a 3-pointer, and four free throws down the stretch to seal the deal for the Minutemen.

UMass concludes its season with a tough class test against St. Louis on Sunday.
