Needham to hold Aly Raisman celebration in September

Aly Raisman’s life in the States will be worlds different when she arrives home.

The 18-year-old gymnast, who is undoubtedly the most popular Olympian from Greater Boston since figure skater Nancy Kerrigan, will be appearing on late night talk shows and, of course, will be getting a parade.

Needham Town Clerk Tedi Eaton told Metro Boston via email that “Aly Day” will take place in September and that Saturday, Sept. 8 has been set as a tentative date. Town officials are waiting to speak with parents to determine the best possible date in September.

Raisman will be plenty busy before then as she and the rest of the “Fierce Five” U.S. women’s gymnastics team will be appearing on “The Late Show with David Letterman” on Tuesday, Aug. 14, according to CBS.
