What the rest of the world calls football is shockingly popular in the locker room of what Americans call football.

A big chunk of the Jets locker room will be closely watching this summer’s World Cup, including the opening game of the tournament for the United States on Monday.

Metro New York asked some of the soccerheads on the Jets for their predictions for America’s World Cup quest, which opens on Monday night against Ghana. Keep in mind, the United States has lost to Ghana in each of the past two World Cups.

These American soccer fans don’t seem care much for that stat, as these predictions show:

Linebacker Nick Bellore
Prediction: United States 3, Ghana 1
“USA avenges previous Ghana defeats. They win 3-1. Best U.S. team since 2002, Ghana’s vets are getting older, combined with the new youth on the United States, gives the edge.”

Kicker Nick Folk
Prediction: United States 3, Ghana 2
“We have been playing well and Tim Howard is on a roll!”

Defensive end Leger Douzable
Prediction: United States 1, Ghana 1
“I’m gonna say 1-1 tie. Ghana’s pace will trouble us but the heart and fight of the U.S. will get them a goal.”

Punter Ryan Quigley
Prediction: United States 2, Ghana 1
“I think the U.S. will win in a close one. Seems like all the pieces are coming together at the right time. Offense looks as good as ever. Ghana has always been tough in the past but I think we got them this time. Need at least a point with the group we’re in.”
