HBO’s popular reality series “Hard Knocks,” which features one NFL team per year during training camp, will follow around the Atlanta Falcons later this summer.
The Falcons actually jumped at the opportunity to have their practices and team meetings video taped by HBO cameras.
“We are excited about the opportunity to give our fans a behind the scenes look at what it takes to prepare an NFL team for the rigors of a 16-game regular season and beyond,” Falcons owner Arthur Blank told ESPN.
The NFL instituted a rule after it proved difficult to find a team willing to participate in “Hard Knocks” last year. The league can force a team to appear on the show if: 1. The team has a new head coach; 2. The team made the playoffs in one of the previous two seasons; or 3. The team has appeared on the show in the past 10 years.
The Bears, Bills, Cardinals, Giants, Jaguars, Raiders, Rams and Steelers were eligible to be featured this year but the Falcons were more than willing to raise their hands.
Atlanta struggled through a 4-12 season in 2013 after making the NFC Championship game the season prior.
