NFL Roundup: Week 5

Another Sunday afternoon, and yet another exciting day of NFL action. Of the six early games, five of them were one-possession games in the fourth quarter providing plenty of action for fans around the league. Here is a recap of the games:

Baltimore Ravens 9 Kansas City Chiefs 6

In an offensive struggle the Ravens outlasted the Chiefs on the road. Ravens running back Ray Rice ran for 102 yards in the win, while Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles rushed for 140 yards on 30 carries despite the loss. The Ravens are now 4-1, while the Chiefs are 1-4.

Indianapolis Colts 30 Green Bay Packers 27

In the upset of the day, the Colts came back from a 21-3 halftime deficit to overtake the Packers at home. Andrew Luck’s four-yard touchdown pass to Reggie Wayne with 39 seconds left was the winning score. Green Bay had a chance to tie the game with a 50-yard field goal as time expired, but Mason Crosby missed badly. The Colts are now 2-2, while the Packers fall to 2-3.

Pittsburgh Steelers 16 Philadelphia Eagles 14

The Steelers got a much-needed win following a Shaun Suisham 34-yard field goal as time expired improving the Steelers to 2-2 on the year, while Eagles drop to 3-2. Steelers running Rashard Mendenhall ran for 81 yards and a touchdown in his first game of the year. Michael Vick threw for 175 yards and two touchdowns, but also fumbled three times, losing two of them.

Atlanta Falcons 24 Washington Redskins 17

Atlanta scored 17 fourth quarter points to overtake the Redskins on the road. Michael Turner’s 13-yard run with 2:46 remaining proved to be the game-winning score. Matt Ryan threw for 345 yards and two touchdowns in the win. Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III suffered an apparent head injury in the second half and did not return.

New York Giants 41 Cleveland Browns 27

In the only blow out game of the afternoon the Giants overcame a 14-0 deficit in the first quarter and scored 27 unanswered points at one point to run away with the win. Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz had a monster game scoring three touchdowns on 50 yards receiving. Running back Ahmad Bradshaw rushed for 200 yards and a touchdown as well.

Miami Dolphins 17 Cincinnati Bengals 13

The Dolphins scored 17 unanswered points in the second and third quarters leading them to a road win over the Bengals. Reggie Bush and Donald Thomas each rushed for a touchdown, while A.J. Green caught nine passes for 65 yards and a touchdown in the loss.
