Nostalgia wins: Nickelodeon to rerun ’90s classics

Twentysomethings who want to continue their extended adolescence have just received the good news they’ve been waiting years for: Children’s cable network Nickelodeon will finally — finally! — start replaying its old shows from the 1990s, just like the Facebook group “I WANT MY 90’S NICKELODEON BACK!” asked for.

Entertainment Weekly reports that Nickelodeon’s old shows will rerun on the company’s TeenNick channel in a midnight-to-2 a.m. block called ‘The ’90s Are All That,’ which will include such classics as “Clarissa Explains It All,” “Pete & Pete,” “Kenan & Kel” and, appropriately, “All That.”

As of press time, the network had no plans to bring back “CatDog.”

“[The ’90s were] ground-breaking and for the young viewers, a powerful and pivotal time in their lives,” TeenNick general manager Keith Dawkins told EW. “Those kids who are now 22, 23 and 24 want to bring that back.”

While they wait for the block to premiere this fall, nostalgic millenials can ponder whether they actually did grow up in golden age of children’s TV, or if they just thought so because everyone thinks that about the shows they watched when they were 11. (via Vulture)
