Now the Red Sox collapse is serious

Who knew the effects of September's failure could be so wide-spread?

When you get down to it, missing the playoffs is no big deal.

And disappointing the fanbase sucks, but they'll fill Fenway Park again next year.

But now the Red Sox's September collapse is starting to have real, terrible implications.

MLB baseball operations czar Joe Torre told the Globe he's looking into reports the Sox drank in the clubhouse during games. Such an investigation could potentially lead to a ban on locker room booze -- a longstanding tradition in the not-exactly-fitness-obsessed sport.

"It's something we're going to look at and find the best way
to approach it, let's put it that way," Torre told the Globe.
"That's one thing where I feel comfortable, the fact that I played and I
managed. I have no problem talking to someone in regards to baseball,
whether it's behavior or otherwise."

This is why you think before you act, people.
