Playing the Field: Hoagie Girl, the Phillies’ good luck charm

Leave it to Metro’s own Angelo Cataldi to track down the hoagie-making, cleavage-showing Phillies fan. Turns out, she was the mastermind behind one of the greatest would-be publicity stunts in sports.

For those of you uninformed, there was a woman sitting behind home plate at Wednesday night’s Phillies-Red Sox game in Philadelphia. The cameras were fixated on the woman, not only because of her close proximity to the action, but also due to her well-endowed bosom (can we say that? Too bad, we just did) displayed proudly in a low-cut tank top.

Well, the woman ignited a firestorm on Twitter, Facebook and on the talk-radio circuit. Cataldi identified her as Dana Interlante and interviewed her on his 94 WIP show Thursday morning. She has become a sort of good luck charm for the Phillies, after Domonic Brown smoked two home runs in that 4-3 win.

When Cataldi told her that “her breasts looked very impressive,” Dana responded, “Thank you.”

OK, OK let’s cut to the chase here. Interlante was more than just a casual fan. She owns a Primo Hoagie shop in Runnemede, NJ. The tickets were given to her by Coca-Cola and she made sure to invite everyone to come down to her shop on the air.

“I kind of wish I wore a different shirt,” Dana admitted. “I own a hoagie shop and I probably should have had the hoagie shop’s name across my chest instead.”

As for her choice of outfits: “It was 90 degrees when I was getting ready for the game … Anybody that knows me, they know I’m not like that.”

Dana actually purchased a Phillies T-shirt in the later innings and covered up.

Point is, you never know who is watching you. If you are an attractive, well-proportioned woman who owns a hoagie shop in New Jersey, please dress accordingly. Please.
