Tampa Bay Rays fans have been slapped with the "fair-weather" label by opposing fan bases since their inception in 1998.
After all, it seems like just once a year that their three biggest fans: pro wrestlers John Cena (a Massachusetts native who's not a Sox fan) and Nasty Boy Brian Knobbs (who was extremely drunk and got booted from Fenway in 2008) and MLB Hall of Famer Wade Boggs (who also has ties to Boston and pro wrestling - see above video) actually show up to Tropicana Field. That time of year is now for the Rays fan base, which has been treated to a fabulous run of playoff baseball for a while now.
Monday night's Game 3 of the ALDS against the Red Sox is surprisingly sold out, and has been for a couple days now, though it will be interesting to see how many transplanted New Englanders make up the crowd in the potential Rays elimination game. Tickets on StubHub for Monday's game are going for $65 at the cheapest.
A potential Game 4 had not been sold out as of Monday afternoon. The cheapest ticket was going for $46 on StubHub.
A standing room only ticket for a potential Game 5 back at Fenway on Thursday was going for $68 as of Monday afternoon.
