Report: Celtics to sign free agent SF Evan Turner

The Celtics are set to sign free agent swingman Evan Turner, according to the Boston Herald’s Steve Bulpett.

Turner will get a portion of Boston’s mid-level exception, according to Bulpett.

Turner averaged 14.0 points per game with the Sixers and Pacers in 2013-14. The Ohio State product hit a buzzer-beating runner to beat the Celtics midway through last season.

Turner hasn’t lived up to high expectations in the NBA having been the second overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft as Philadelphia finally gave up on the small forward by trading him to Indiana last season. Turner registered six DNPs in the playoffs with the Pacers last season.
