Another spring, another David Ortiz contract uproar. But like with all the other spats in the past, Ortiz and the Red Sox have reached common ground.
According to reports, Ortiz and Boston have reached agreement on a one-year extension worth just North of $15 million that would make Fenway Park Ortiz's home through the 2015 season.
Ortiz publicly voiced his displeasure with his current contract status and with his perception in Boston with certain media members earlier this spring, telling The Boston Herald's John Tomase:
“Guys putting up my numbers, they’re making $25, $30 million,” said Ortiz. “I’m not asking for that. I’m asking for half of it. And they’re still bitching about it? (Expletive) them. I’m tired of hearing them talk (expletive) about me when I talk about my contract. Hey, every time I talk about my contract, I earn it, (expletive). So don’t be giving me that (expletive).”
