Revs sign Milton Caraglio

The Revolution finally made a move to bolster its stagnant attack today, signing Argentine forward Milton Caraglio as its first-ever designated player.

Terms of the deal were not released. He’ll join the Revs as soon as he gets his International Transfer Certificate.

Just 22, Caraglio has scored 11 goals in 49 appearances with Rosario Central of Argentina’s top division. He had an extended tryout with English Premier League club West Ham United, and has been chosen for Argentine national team duty.

Designated players have a portion of their salary paid by MLS (and counted against the salary cap). The balance — uncapped — is paid by the individual team. You might know it as the Beckham Rule.

Here’s (grainy) video of Caraglio in action.
