It’s been one hell of a year for former Celtics head coach Rick Pitino.
He won an NCAA National Championship as head coach of the Louisville Cardinals in April and was inducted into the Pro Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mass. just a few weeks back.
But Thursday morning wasn’t too fun for the once unapologetically brash coach. Pitino walked through the door one more time in Boston and had it slammed in his face as he joined 98.5 The Sports Hub’s Toucher & Rich radio show and was immediately hung up on. Here’s how the conversation played out:
Toucher: We are joined by Rick Pitino, former coach of the Celtics, current coach of the Louisville Cardinals who won the national championship. Rick Pitino, hello!
Pitino: Morning, guys.
Toucher: You stink. You ruined the Celtics.
Toucher immediately hung up the phone on Pitino and the interview came to an abrupt halt. Click here for the audio.
