Sixers Notebook: Jrue Holiday joins Team USA

Sixers point guard Jrue Holiday will be going up against the best our nation has to offer this summer. Holiday was selected to be a part of the USA Men’s Select Team, which will train from July 6-11 in Las Vegas against the USA Basketball Men’s National Team.

“In naming Jrue to our Select Team we’ve added an athletic guard who can get to the rim and someone who is also a good 3-point shooter. Both those skills will be invaluable in helping prepare our National Team for this summer,” said USA Basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo.

Holiday is the 15th player chosen for the team. He joins DeJuan Blair, DeMar DeRozan, Jeremy Lin, Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson, Kawhi Leonard, Lance Thomas, DeMarcus Cousins, Gordon Hayward, Taj Gibson, Greg Stiemsma, Derrick Favors, John Wall and Paul George.

Meanwhile, Yahoo! Sports is reporting that Holiday is seeking a max deal from the Sixers, one that would pay the third-year guard about $12.9 million per year for five years. Holiday is due $2.6 million next season and can become a restricted free agent after the season.
