After dispatching Gael Monfils yesterday in straight sets, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic are primed for a Friday showdown at Roland Garros.

“He’s been playing fantastic this season, so I know I have to play some of my best tennis,” Federer told reporters. “I have a couple of days to prepare for that and come up with a good game plan.”

Djokovic has won 43 consecutive matches dating back to last year’s Davis Cup final — and has eliminated Federer from the semifinals in the last two major tournaments.

“He’s got a lot on the line, but my plan is trying to reach another Grand Slam final, it’s not to stop Novak,” Federer said.

Earlier in the day, Andy Murray defeated Viktor Troicki to advance to the quarterfinals. The first four sets were played Monday, before darkness suspended the match.
