Madden rankings are meant to change. Let’s get that out of the way. Roster updates will surely be released throughout the 2017 regular season, and anyone participating in a franchise in the game knows younger players improve and older players decline.

Now, that being said, here are a few over or underrankings we couldn’t help but noticeas the game drops into consumers’ hands today.

Le’Veon Bell 94 overall, Adrian Peterson 91 overall

The two top running backs in the game have gotten absolutely no love. These two guys will be first rounders in fantasy football drafts across the country, and really deserve to be two or three points higher apiece.

Sure, Bell is coming off a season where he played in just six games, but he averaged more than 92 yards per game in those contests and is one year removed from 2,215 total yards from scrimmage.

Peterson on the other hand led the NFL with 1,485 yards and 11 touchdowns on 327 carries. How he is rated this low is surprising, even though he is entering his age 31 season.

Sam Bradford 78 overall, Carson Wentz 76 overall

OK, let’s be realistic here. Sam Bradford had an average season last year, but is he really a 78 overall?

The quarterback broke several Eagles records for accuracy and yardage and has been cursed by a lack of consistency on the coaching side, and talent on the receiving side. He deserves a little bit better.

On the other hand, rookie Carson Wentz, who will be sitting out all of 2016 (we think) behind Bradford is just two points worse? Hmm …

Brandon Graham 92 overall

While on the subject of the Eagles, pass rusher Graham is ranked the team’s second best player (tied with Pro Bowler Malcolm Jenkins) and behind Fletcher Cox. The former first round pick has been decent, but hasn’t been elite like many of the other players rated in the low 90s. Last year Graham had 39 tackles and 6.5 sacks. Solid, but not worthy of a 92 ranking.

Allen Robinson 88 overall

Robinson had 1,400 yards receiving last season, sixth best in the NFL. Yet in this year’s Madden ranks, the wideout is the 13th best and is ranked worse than Golden Tate and Steve Smith III (both 89s). Neither of these players even cracked the top 40 in receiving in 2015.

A-Rob is 22 and entering his third season, so perhaps developers wanted to give him room to grow, but he deserves better.

NaVorro Bowman 88 overall

Bowman led the NFL with 154 combined tackles last season, is in the prime of his career and just inked a giant $77 million contract. He was ranked by ESPN as one of the 50 best players in the NFL, and yet Madden gives him no love. He’s listed as the 15th best linebacker in the game, and at MLB he is behind 99 overall Luke Kuechly by 11 points. We buy Kuechly as a 99, but not if Bowman is an 88.
