The latest on potential Omer Asik trade to the Celtics or Sixers

Houston Rockets GM Daryl Morey seemed hell-bent on trading center Omer Asik before Thursday, but trade talks have stalled, according to Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski.

Reports said Thursday that Morey has contacted Asik’s agent and has told him that the team plans to keep the Turkish big man for now. This could all be just a smoke-screen, of course, as Morey could simply be upping the asking price before pulling the trigger on a deal. The Celtics were thought to be ready to part with the 2015 first round pick they received from the Clippers when Doc Rivers fled to Los Angeles. But since that pick figures to be late in the draft, the Rockets seem to be hesitant, and are in search of more.

ESPN floated the idea of a three-way trade with Cleveland Wednesday that would have Celtics forward Jeff Green heading to the Cavs, Asik coming to Boston and Houston receiving a draft pick or multiple draft picks. Celtics guard Courtney Lee also has been mentioned in trade scenarios. Lee spent two seasons with the Rockets before coming to Boston in 2012.

Philadelphia is also said to be in on the Asik sweepstakes.
