TV picks: Weekend, Oct. 12-14

This weekend's TV highlights: Finding a safe haven (or not) on "The Walking Dead"

"The Walking Dead"

DRAMA. The West Georgia Correctional Facility sounds like a much more menacing home base than the bucolic (minus the zombies) farm the survivors called home last season — and that's the point. There will be blood (oh, so much blood) when Rick and his band of the living — who have become something of an elite zombie-killing squad — advance on the stronghold. Elsewhere, the swordswoman seen in the Season 2 finale, fan-favorite Michonne (Danai Gurira), will also get to demonstrate her badass ways with the undead.

Season premiere, Sunday, 9 p.m., AMC

"American Horror House"

MOVIE. This film hits all of your schlocky Halloween movie musts: sorority girls, deadly spirits and a megastar from the '70s in a starring role (Morgan Fairchild as the evil housemother).

Saturday, 9 p.m., Syfy
