The 2017 football season is almost here as there will be live, meaningful games in college football at the end of August and live, meaningful games in the NFL at the start of September. Here are the dates to know for when you should start ditching days at the beach for a spot on your couch.

 

Saturday Aug. 26

There are five games on the Saturday before Labor Day weekend, which is historically early. Here’s the slate:

Oregon State at Colorado State (2:30 p.m., CBSSN)

Portland State at BYU (3 p.m., ESPN)

Hawai’I at UMass (6 p.m.)

South Florida at San Jose State (7:30 p.m., CBSSN)

Stanford at Rice (10 p.m., ESPN)

 

Thursday, Aug. 31 – Monday, Sept. 4

Labor Day weekend cranks up with a giant slate of night games – 15 to be exact. Saturday, Sept. 2 will be the first full Saturday of games. There are two games on Sunday and one game (Tennessee- Georgia Tech) on Labor Day Monday. Click here for schedule.

 

Thursday, Sept. 7

The first regular season game in the NFL pits the Kansas City Chiefs at the defending Super Bowl champion New England Patriots in a nationally televised Thursday nighter.

 

Sunday, Sept. 10

Monday, Sept. 11

ESPN will broadcast two Monday night football games.
