When is MixFest 2017 in Boston?

Kelly Clarkson

Fall is right around the corner, which means it’s almost time for the return of Mix 104.1’s MixFest concert. The annual, free event celebrates its 24th anniversary this year, and organizers have an awesome lineup in store for the big show. Here’s what you need to know for MixFest 2017.

When is MixFest?

This year’s installmenet of MixFest is scheduled to take over the DCR Hatch Memorial Shell on Saturday, Sept. 16. Gates will open at 11 a.m. and organizers are encouraging folks to show up as close to that time as possible since space for the show fills up quick. Entrance to the concert will be closed off once event meets capacity. The music is tentatively scheduled to start at 2 p.m. that day.

Who’s performing?

The folks behind MixFest have put together a sweet, star-studded lineup for the 2017 show. Singing superstar Kelly Clarkson has been tapped to headline this year’s event. Joining the first-ever “American Idol” winner will be legendary rock band Blondie as well as pop sensation Andy Grammar, who previously performed at the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular on July 4.

What else do I need to know?

Attendees will have to follow a few simple rules if they want to catch this year’s MixFest. Fans will have to leave the following prohibited items at home: backpacks, large bags, weapons alcohol, coolers, glass containers and tents. Also, please don’t bring any pets or drones to the Hatch Shell that day. Music lovers will be able to bring blankets, baby strollers, portable chairs, Binoculars, cameras and up to 2 liters of water in sealed containers.

As for getting to the event, the Red and Green Lines have stops close to the venue, which will have two entrances near the Dartmouth Street Footbridge and the Community Boating. Parking won’t be allowed on Storrow Drive, so you’ll have to find a garage if you drive to the concert.
