National Ice Cream Day

Frozen yogurt shop 16 Handles has jumped on the soft-serve bandwagon, and for National Ice Cream Day they’ve created a limited edition flavor with “Ace of Cakes” host Duff Goldman: Strawberry Shortcake, made with real strawberries and freshly baked shortcake. Get it anytime this week, and on July 16 the fro-yo spot is offering a free 4 oz. cup when you use the 16 Handles app at checkout. 16handles.com

Carvel fans, find a friend on National Ice Cream Day because when you buy any size soft serve cone or cup in vanilla, chocolate or swirl, you can get a second one for free. carvel.com

Pocket pizza import Trapizzino just launched soft-serve gelato for the summer, and they’re rolling out a tiramisu flavor served on top of ladyfingers or biscuits, drenched in Caffe Vita cold brew and dusted with cocoa powder. It’s not only softer, lighter and fluffier than traditional gelato, but also cheaper this Sunday. On the 16th, get two cups for the price of one, $4.50. 144 Orchard St.

Bring your bestie, boyfriend or girlfriend to the popular Magnum pop-up in the Meatpacking District this Sunday to score a BOGO deal on their freshly dipped ice cream bars with a choice of 20 toppings. The pop-up is only open until late September, so hop to it. 875 Washington St.

Anyone can score a McDonald’s vanilla soft serve cone for free on Sunday, but one lucky person will get the Golden Arches Cone that gets them free soft serve for life. For a chance at the grand prize, you must order your free vanilla cone through the restaurant’s app on National Ice Cream Day between 2 and 5 p.m. mcdonalds.com
