All We’ve Ever Wanted to Know About Submitting an Event Listing (But Were Afraid to Ask)
Greetings! - Thanks for thinking of the Boston Metro to feature your event. We like to receive event notices at least two weeks in advance — e-mail or snail mail is best. This gives us ample time to review the listing and ask for additional info if needed.
THE LISTING
As you’ll see if you pick up a Metro, we look for event title and description; full address; MBTA stop; publishable contact phone #; day, date and start/end time of the event; cost; age restriction (if any); and website to direct readers to. A descriptive e-mail title with event date always helps; “for immediate release” or “event listing,” for what it’s worth, does not break through the clutter.
Listings are free but please understand that we do not have the real estate to run every event. Boston is a great town with a lot going on and we will run your listing as space allows. T TIME runs 5x daily and in general, we run listings day of or on Friday for weekend events. There are rare occurrences of running a listing the day before an event, but please understand we do not run listings weeks before the event. (If you would like to place an ad to ensure advance notice to our readers, please contact adinfo –at- metro-boston.com.)
THE ART
If applicable, please have high res images on hand. If you have online links (preferred) where we can download high res art, please feel free to include with your initial submission. Otherwise, do not send large attachments, please hold off until we request it – our inbox will thank you! For newsprint, we need high res images – 200DPI+ for newsprint and we prefer compelling color photos that will draw readers in. Any file type will work; JPGs are most universal, TIFs are unnecessarily large for our purposes. (Please do not send small web images, they will not print properly.)
Thanks again for getting in touch, and let us know if you have any other questions.
