C’s fall to Toronto in Garden shootout

NBA. The Celtics fell to the Raptors, 114-112, last night at the TD Banknorth Garden.

Jose Calderon hit a lay-up and knocked down a free throw with 10.5 seconds remaining to clinch the victory for the Raptors.

Ray Allen couldn’t hit a put-back jumper in the paint as the buzzer went off.

The Celtics failed to sweep a season series from the Raptors for the first time in 10 years.

The C’s host the Timberwolves tomorrow. The C’s traded five players and two draft picks to Minnesota last summer in exchange for Kevin Garnett. Antoine Walker also plays for the T-Wolves.

The Celtics and Raptors engaged in a first-half shootout, with the C’s building a 12-point lead midway through the second quarter. The Raptors, who live and die by the jump shot, caught fire before the break, ripping off a 20-4 run that helped them take a 57-55 lead into the half.
