Man in wheelchair hit by truck

CHARLESTOWN. A man in a wheelchair was struck by a dump truck Thursday morning in Sullivan Square and dragged down the street, but he is expected to survive.

Police said the unidentified victim was hit on Maffa Way outside the Sullivan Square T stop around 6:50 a.m. The man was found stuck under the bumper of the truck, but emergency crews extricated him and took him to Massachusetts General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

It appeared the man may have pulled in front of the truck and the driver didn’t see him, according to a Boston Police spokesman. No charges have been filed against the truck’s driver.
