BOSTON. The MIT student who was arrested last fall at Logan Airport when she wore a makeshift circuit board attached to her sweatshirt settled her case in East Boston District Court yesterday.
Star Simpson, 20, of Lahaina, Hawaii, received a year of pre-trial probation on a charge of disorderly conduct, and was ordered to perform 50 hours of community service and write a letter of apology.
If and when Simpson meets those conditions and does not commit a crime, her charge will be dismissed.
Simpson was arrested at Logan on Sept. 21, when she went to the airport to pick up her boyfriend sporting a black sweatshirt with a white circuit board with nine flashing lights affixed to it. She also held Play-Doh in her hands, creating what Massachusetts State Police believed to be a security threat.
