Rest in peace, Michael Jackson
A week ago today, the world lost one of its most precious treasures. Michael Jackson, the greatest entertainer to ever walk the earth, died tragically from cardiac arrest. While much of the media coverage has focused on the most salacious aspects of his life, Jackson has undoubtedly left a legacy that is bigger, broader and brighter than the words of his detractors.

DA says psych patient raped teen employee

Witnesses

According to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office, a nurse passed by Thompson and the victim in the stairwell, but did not interfere. A second witness separated them when Thompson was seen with his arm around the girl.

BOSTON. A psychiatric patient at the Lemuel Shattuck Hospital in Jamaica Plain was charged with twice raping a 14-year-old female hospital volunteer, prosecutors announced yesterday.

Vernon Lee Thompson, 38, is expected to be arraigned in Suffolk Superior Court this week on two counts of rape of a child.

The victim, a member of the hospital’s Junior Volunteers Program, told authorities that Thompson tried to grab her as she used a pay phone in the hospital lobby July 10.

The girl pushed him away and fled to a stairwell, where Thompson allegedly forced himself on her and raped her twice, prosecutors said. Thompson was held on $100,000 bail after an earlier arraignment in West Roxbury Municipal Court.
