Use the Internet to keep on track

Network launches Action Method Online to get you organized

You know those gems of ideas that popped in your mind that could have made you the next Mark Zuckerberg?

But they never came into fruition because 20 minutes after being hit by brilliance you receive a phone call, and then you had to finish up that freelance gig and — whoops — your friend’s band is going on at 10 p.m. Before you know it, that great kernel of an idea becomes just a distant memory.

Well, fear not young, creative (possibly ADD-stricken) types, because Behance, an online network of creative professionals, has yet another design-savvy product to help you reach your goals.

“The sad truth why most ideas never happen is not because they’re not good,” says Scott Belsky, 28, founder and CEO of Behance. “It’s because of the level of organization behind them.”

To help you get that idea in order, Belsky and his team interviewed and conducted focus groups with young, hip employees from places such as Miramax films and Apple to come up with Action Method Online, a new online project management system.

This new tool is kind of like a virtual to-do list that makes keeping track of your personal tasks and working on group projects easy. “It’s probably the most robust action management system on the planet,” says Belsky. Some features of the program include: the option to e-mail action steps — complete with target dates and priority levels — to fellow group members; a “nag” function to follow up with people on their part of a project; a discussion area; and a “back burner” section for storing future ideas. To try out a free introductory plan, go to www.actionmethod.com. If you like it, sign up for the premium plan for $12 a month, or $99 for a year.

Now, go conquer the world.
