IntoxiKATEd. Fancy ladies require the following fixings for a notable night: cocktails, confidants, and chow. Felt Boston’s Female Feature Wednesdays (quite a mouthful!) touts itself as the destination for that and more...but for less. Their Recessionista Menu retails an array of $3 appetizers, entrees, and desserts. Also quite a mouthful. Drinks are full price, but that doesn’t mean you won’t have a happy hour while you’re there.
I reserved a table — recommended — for their recent Beauty night which provided free blowouts by a local hairstylist and tons of swag. Each week brings a different theme; upcoming events include Hollywood (NESN auditions!) and Dance (free lessons). We wished our waitress had provided the heads up on the evening’s fun and free stations at the start of our visit. In spite of that, she was a blast but also to blame for recommending the ambrosial sangria; pitchers are pricy ($30) but massive. Clearly this was the way to spend your Recessionista surplus: they sold out of both red and white variations that night.
Their food is suitable for the after-work hungries, but if you’re seeking gourmet grub you’ll be disappointed. Our Fried Cheese appetizer was a mediocre mix of Manchego and Goat served with a watery tomato sauce. Bordering on overcooked, the Mini Burgers were unfortunately not well-done, but the fries on the side were salty sticks of goodness. We passed on dessert in favor of munching on the sangria fruit, which should come with a warning: may cause mucho drunkenness.
Did I mention how great the music was? Carly Simon, Gwen Stefani and the theme from “Flashdance” certainly catered to the intended clientele, but everyone could use a dose of good girly tunes now and then. Wise men should make a mid-week pilgrimage to Felt. Even though the night is designed for women, a good time isn’t hard to find.
