Qu Yuan-A Go? For the better part of 30 years, the Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival has been fostering the sentiments and ideals of exiled poet Qu Yuan, but you don’t have to be down with B.C. Chinese lore, the zung-ze-tossing tradition or sacrificial drowning to enjoy this day-long celebration. You just have to appreciate miraculous colors (have you seen these boats?), good sportsmanship and even better food and entertainment. That’s Sunday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., with food and entertainment starting at noon along the Charles River (Memorial Drive, Cambridge, between JFK Street and Western Avenue. MBTA: Red Line to Harvard). Go to www.bostondragonboat.org or call 617-426-6500, ext. 778 for more info.  Qu Yuan-A Go? T-Time

Entertainment

‘The Fellas Live!’ featuring Tommy Tiernan and Dylan Moran
Friday and Saturday, 8 p.m.
Wilbur Theatre
246 Tremont St., Boston
MBTA: Green Line to Boylston
$37-$47, 617-931-2000
www.ticketmaster.com

We have trouble bringing the funny two sentences at a time, but Irish comedian Tommy Tiernan holds the Guinness World Record for longest stand-up comedy show by an individual, clocking in at 36 hours and 15 minutes. Dylan Moran, best known for his role on “Black Books” and for his turns in Edgar Wright/Simon Pegg send-ups, is also on the bill. Ardal O’Hanlon will not appear on the Boston date of this tour.

‘Big Screen Baseball’

Tuesday, 7 p.m.
House of Blues
15 Lansdowne St., Boston
MBTA: Green Line to Kenmore
Free, 21+, 888-693-BLUE
www.hob.com/boston

Let’s hope Big Papi pulls himself out of this big slump in time for the big boys of the Bronx. The House of Blues screens the Yanks series kick-off for free on its 15’ x 20’ screen. And let’s face it, you’d only have one of those if you were John Henry. And in that case, you’d be at the game. Doors at 5 p.m., game at 7:10.

Music

Doves with Wild Light
Sunday, 8 p.m.
House of Blues
15 Lansdowne St., Boston
MBTA: Green Line to Kenmore
$18-$30, all ages, 888-693-BLUE
www.hob.com/boston
www.ticketmaster.com

The beauty of Manchester trio Doves’ sound has always been their knack for combining earthly, organic murmur with celestial flights of fancy. Four years in the making, their latest, “Kingdom of Rust,” builds on that same ethos. Locals Wild Light get the opening call.

The Decemberists
Tuesday, 7:30 p.m.
Bank of America Pavilion
290 Northern Ave., Boston
MBTA: Silver Line to Silver Line Way
$20-$32.50, 617-931-2000
www.ticketmaster.com

A concept record from The Decemberists? Who’da thunk? With the 17-track wonder, “The Hazards of Love,” Colin Meloy and Co., to their betterment, ease up on the fey shanties and dig into deeper, darker sonic crevasses (are those Black Sabbath whiffs we hear?) to reveal the narrative of star-crossed lovers Margaret and William. The Portland, Ore. collective performs the record in its entirety before getting back to the pirate-pauper-and-princess paeans.

Local

AIDS Walk
Sunday, 9:30 a.m.
The Hatch Shell
The Esplanade, Boston
MBTA: Red Line to Charles/MGH
or Green Line to Arlington
617-424-WALK
www.aac.org

There are few things we’d walk 6.2 miles for — donuts* and AIDS research are two of them. (*Donuts during the walk not confirmed at press time.)

Pitching In for Kids’ Celebrity Poker Tournament
Monday, 6 p.m.
Ned Devine’s
Faneuil Hall, Boston
MBTA: Green or Blue Line to Government Center
$200-$250 to play/$100 for party only
617-367-3322
www.pitchinginforkids.org

If “all in” and “batter up” are two of your favorite phrases, there’s a, hopefully, winning seat waiting for you, as Wake and Tek supplement their charity golf gig and comedy outings with a poker tourney. Each eight-person table sees one local celeb throwing down. Oh, man — please tell us Dean of Dean’s Home Furniture is back in town.

Culture

Dance for World Community Festival
Saturday, noon-9 p.m.
José Mateo’s Ballet Theatre
The Sanctuary Theatre

www.ballettheatre.org

Community-minded dance outfit José Mateo hosts an all-inclusive festival of dance, social causes and outreach. If you’re unlike our two-left-feet selves, check out the sampling of free intro classes — Haitian folk, samba, hip-hop and ballroom are just a few of the day’s offerings.
