Kooky festival presents a wide range of entertainment through August

Each year the touring Fringe Festival presents the best off-off-off-Broadway talent, gleaned from hundreds of international applicants. This year’s fest promises loads of laughs and political satire aplenty, with send-ups of celebrities, hell, and even Abraham Lincoln.

Shipped in from Madrid, Spain’s Yllana Theater Company, “666” tells a tale of inmates on death row. Through what they describe as “increasingly Dantesque scenes,” the prisoners discuss life and death with both slapstick and political satire.

The name of the play should be enticing enough on its own, but playwright Aaron Loeb additionally serves up light-hearted political satire (and singing and dancing!) in this story of a teacher put on trial for asking, “Was Lincoln gay?”
