BOSTON. The state will receive $500,000 to help veterans train for and earn jobs in the expanding green industries, according to the Patrick administration.
Massachusetts received only one of 17 such grants from the U.S. Department of Labor, which will hand out more than $7.5 million nationwide. The program is expected to aid about 3,000 veterans across the U.S.
“This funding will allow us to train some of our most deserving men and women for the jobs of the future,” said Lt. Gov. Timothy P. Murray, chairman of the Governor’s Advisory Council on Veterans’ Services.
