To a man, the Giants weren’t sure they were worthy of that 5-0 record they owned just three weeks ago.

Now that wins against Oakland and Tampa Bay have been wiped from memory by losses to Arizona and Philadelphia, the Giants face a fork-in-the-road situation.

“This is a very important game coming up Sunday,” said defensive end Justin Tuck about the San Diego Chargers (4-3). “I hate to say that in Week 9, but it’s a very important game … could be a defining game.”

The Giants’ defense could be defined as embarrassing during the losing streak. Donovan Mc-Nabb posted a 140.7 passer rating and vaulted to the Eagles to the top of the NFC East last Sunday.

“We were as low as can be coming into film session,” Tuck said Monday. “It’s going to be hard to go lower than we are right now. This has to be rock bottom.”
