The dirt on Sanchez
Mark Sanchez played with a veteran's poise in his debut. Since then, he has been hit or miss, mainly miss. No one expects Sanchez to be a Pro Bowl quarterback in his first season, but he must cut down on mistakes.

Stay grounded
With a rookie quarterback, it was common knowledge New York would have to run to challenge for a playoff spot. The ground game has picked up traction over the past three games, including twice accumulating more than 300 yards. If that continues, it takes pressure off Sanchez, who has yet to throw for 300.

Getting defensive
Kris Jenkins is out for the season, but the defense still looked good last Sunday. If the unit can put up some points, the Jets can finish with a winning record. Too often the offense is leaving the ‘D’ out to dry.

Average at best
Rex Ryan said he thought this would be a 6-2 team right now. They’re not. They’re 4-4. With a rookie QB and head coach, the fact they’re even holding their own and haven't been truly out of a game is an accomplishment.
