Actress Brittany Murphy died early yesterday morning in her Los Angeles home, according to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. According to TMZ.com, Murphy’s mother found the 32-year-old unconscious in the shower. When paramedics arrived around 8 a.m., they found her in full cardiac arrest. She was pronounced dead at the hospital at 10:04 a.m.

Murphy became a household name with her breakout role in 1995’s “Clueless,” as Alicia Silvestone’s best friend. Among the four films she was working on at the time of her death was “The Expendables” which stars Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, and Jet Li, and is set for release next year.

In the past few years, however, Murphy has become the target of tabloid speculation over her 2007 marriage to Simon Monjack, a British screenwriter with a criminal past, and her own increasingly strange behavior and gaunt appearance.

When it was alleged earlier this month that Murphy was fired from the film “The Caller” due to being difficult and Monjack picking fights, her rep released this statement: “The allegations currently circulating on the Internet about Brittany Murphy and her husband, Simon Monjack, read like a fictional plot from one of the 50 plus movies Ms. Murphy has successfully completed without incident.”
