Table for two
For Paul Rudd, the decision to star in Jay Roach’s new comedy, “Dinner for Schmucks,” was an easy one. “I thought the script was really funny,” he says. “That was it. It was kind of a no-brainer.” Of course Rudd, who’s built an impressive resume of smart comedies, was just as enamored of the man behind the camera.

Short-term living in Jersey City
Subletting in NYC typically involves some kind of covert transaction. Try to find a budget traveler who hasn’t enjoyed the risk of Craigslist’s lease-free rentals. But thanks to a bill Gov. David Paterson signed into law last Friday, renting an apartment for less than 30 days isn’t kosher. Fortunately, there’s a saving grace for those in search of short-term living: Jersey City.

Rangers finalize deal with Flames for Jokinen, Prust

After losing five in a row, something had to be done.

Rangers general manager Glen Sather made a move late Monday night, trading forwards Ales Kotalik and Chris Higgins to Calgary for forwards Olli Jokinen and Brandon Prust.

At 25-24-7, the Rangers sit in seventh place in the East and rank second-to-last in league scoring.

Higgins, who was acquired in last June’s Scott Gomez trade, was part of the offensive problem.

Brought in to provide secondary scoring, he struggled with only 14 points (six goals, eight assists) in 55 games. Kotalik wasn’t much better, posting a minus-18 rating in his short time in New York.

At 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds, Jokinen has the stature to carry the Rangers second line. In 75 games spanning the last two seasons with Calgary, though, Jokinen only tallied 19 goals and 50 points while skating with sniper Jarome Iginla.
