What the buzz is about

I’ve told you to use Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn to build your personal brand, but now it’s time to pay attention to Google Buzz, which finally makes Google a major player in the social-network game.

Buzz leaches directly off your Gmail account and ties into your Google profile. Buzz already has 176 million users, which is greater than Twitter and LinkedIn combined.

Here’s how to get started:

Register your Google account: Use your full name when registering for a Google account (not a nickname) to make a custom URL.

Fill out all fields: Make sure your profile is completely filled out.

Link it up: Add links to your Web site, blog and prominent social profiles on which you’re active.

Syndicate external content: By adding “connect sites” like YouTube, Twitter and Google Reader to your Buzz feed, you’re able to scale your online identity.

Engage in conversations: You can use @ replies before people’s  usernames as a way of directing your Buzz at them. It will automatically go to their Gmail inboxes, too.

MMMpod
In the July MMMpod, Young Veins talk about breaking away from Panic! at the Disco, Keith Lockhart talks about Buckwheat Zydeco throwing the Boston Pops for a loop, Zooey Deschanel talks about how Roy Orbison inspired a She & Him song, Derek Miller of Sleigh Bells talks about how awesome Funkadelic is, and we talk about how awesome Jimmy Cliff is, who in turn talks about Sam Cooke and divine intervention. An explosive show for July! Oh yeah, and we also test your knowledge of America songs in the MMMPod medley.
