A cut above the rest
Danny Trejo feels like he’s been preparing to play the title character in “Machete” for over a decade — about as long as he’s been working with writer/director Robert Rodriguez. “Robert’s been training me for this movie since we did ‘Desperado,’” says Trejo, who’s appeared in eight of Rodriguez’s films. “He said, ‘Hey, you’re perfect for this character. That was 14 years ago. And so, you know, 14 years and 780,000 phone calls later — it was just like stepping into the guy.”

A Dye design, right nearby
Architect Pete Dye doesn’t build run-of-the-mill golf courses. His designs are sought out nationwide by golfers looking for the most innovative and demanding layouts the game has to offer. A Dye course becomes a destination unto itself.

Cinderella still alive as NCAAs reach Sweet 16

Obama’s bracket busted

Health care overhaul is easy compared to picking the national champ.

President Obama’s pick to win it all — Kansas — went down in flames against Northern Iowa on Saturday night.

If that wasn’t bad enough, the first fan’s pick to win the South Regional — Villanova — also bowed out in the second round.

Obama’s Final Four picks from the West (Kansas State) and East (Kentucky) are sill playing.

The bracket-busters are out in force this year.

With 16 teams (and just three top seeds) left, the 2010 NCAA men’s basketball tournament is proving to be a classic.

No. 10 Saint Mary’s? Alive. No. 11 Washington? Still here. No. 12 Cornell? You better believe it.
Overall No. 1 Kansas? Better luck next year.

The Jayhawks were the victims of the upset of the decade Saturday night, when unheralded No. 9 seed Northern Iowa eked out a 69-67 victory. The Panthers — bet you didn’t know Northern Iowa’s mascot last week — are on to face Michigan State in the Midwest Regional semifinals. The Jayhawks are gone.

But that’s nothing compared to the topsy-turvy world of the East. No. 1 Kentucky and No. 2 West Virginia made it through the first weekend but they’ll be playing ... Cornell and Washington, respectively. Bet you didn’t have that in your pool.
