J.A. Happ said all the right things, just as the crafty lefty always has.
But it was easy to tell he was upset. The 27-year-old had climbed the ladder so many times until just when he finally reached the top, he saw there wasn’t any room for him. Maybe it will be different in Houston, where he’ll make his debut for the cellar-dwelling Astros tonight against the Brewers.
“This is all I’ve ever known,” said Happ. “I’ve been fortunate because this is a great time to be in this organization.
“But another team is giving me a great chance down there. I’m gonna do what I do, I’m not gonna try to replace Roy Oswalt.”
A fresh start. That might not turn out to be so bad.
