You can almost feel the skinned shins, broken bones and achy backs watching this video of a huge wipeout in the fame Tour de France.

There were 37 miles left in stage three of the race Monday when 20 riders started tumbling over each other -- including one of the race's best, Fabian Cancellara.

Stage three was 99 miles long, from Antwerp to Huy, in Belgium. The race was halted for 20 minutes while the human carnage was cleared.

Cancellara actually got back onto the road but was clearly in pain, according to multiple reports.

He quit the Tour after medics found he had broken several ribs.

Four others also dropped out due to injuries.

Stage four started without a hitch Tuesday morning.
