$10.5 million Cambridge listing would be city record

Got $10.5 million to spare?

This 8,372-square-foot mansion belonging to philanthropist and Harvard lecturer Swanee Hunt has 10 bedrooms, 5 baths and sits on a nice stretch of Brattle Street only a few minutes walk from the school’s campus.

The Joseph Thorp House was built by philanthropist and activist Sara Chapman Bull and New England architect Arthur Little in 1888, and offers “a highly unconventional, outstanding and eclectic Colonial Revival masterpiece,” with “a sympathetic nod to the Queen Anne style,” the property’s listing reads.

It features Neo-Classical elements like columns and pilasters, as well as bays and balconies with delicate balustrades, scrolled corbels and keystone arches.

The home also features six parking spaces in a brick driveway — not bad for Harvard Square.

The grounds have hosted luminaries like Hillary Clinton, Yo-Yo Ma, and Elizabeth Warren, Boston Magazine reported. Earlier guests included Jane Addams and Gertrude Stein.

If sold for its asking price, the $10.5 million price tag would set an all-time sales record for Cambridge, Curbed noted. Hunt reportedly bought the home in 1997 for about $4.2 million in today’s dollars
