BROADWAY

Broadway in Bryant Park

Want a taste of Broadway’s big shows of the summer? Take your lunch break to Bryant Park on Thursdays beginning this week for live performances at iHeartMedia’s free concert series. Grab a spot on the lawn while cast members from productions like “Groundhog Day,” “Cats” and “Kinky Boots” serenade you with showstoppers. Each day features performances of songs from at least three different musicals. July 6-Aug. 10, 12:30-1:30 p.m., free, bryantpark.org

“Juice”

It’s been 25 years since the release of hip-hop classic “Juice,” which features Omar Epps and the acting debut of Tupac Shakur. The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture has got the anniversary covered with a free screening. After the credits roll, stick around for a talkback with director Ernest Dickerson and actors Khalil Kain and Jermaine Hopkins, followed by a ’90s-themed afterparty with Kool DJ Red Alert. FESTIVAL

Louis Armstrong’s Wonderful World Festival

Pay homage to the man affectionately known as Satchmo within days of his honorary birthday, the Fourth of July. Louis Armstrong’s Wonderful World Festival offers a full day of free jazz events for all ages in Queens, where the jazz icon made his home. The fest showcases his influences through a lineup including Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks, the Dap-Kings and Jon Batiste and Stay Human. There are also games, activities and a food court, plus DJs and partying at the Queens Theatre. July 8, Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Queens, free-$50, armstrongswonderfulworld.com

MUSIC

Full Moon Festival

Governors Island continues to knock it out of the park with summer programming; the latest is the Full Moon Festival, a waterfront concert with two pop-up beaches and three stages of music over 12 hours (because with a name like Full Moon Fest, you’ve gotta party under the stars). The lineup includes Vic Mensa, Kelela, Connan Mockasin, DJ Harvey, Donna Leake and Les Filles. There will also be amazing food, art installations and a mass meditation led by the Big Quiet. July 8, Noon-midnight, Governors Island, $31-$201, fullmoonfest.com

MUSIC

Sharon Cuneta Mega Tour 2017

A national treasure of the Philippines, Sharon Cuneta has released 40 albums and appeared in 53 films since at age 12. This week, the megastar is visiting NYC for a concert at the Kupferberg Center for the Arts — and it’s the only East Coast stop on her Mega Tour 2017. She’ll be performing favorites from her entire repertoire, as well as previewing tracks from a coming album. Also performing are comedian Ai-Ai delas Alas, 14-year-old singer Antonetthe Tismo and actress Christine Allado (West End’s “Hamilton”), led by musical director Louie Ocampo. July 8, 8 p.m., Colden Auditorium, Queens College, 153-39 Reeves Ave., $79-$149, kupferbergcenter.org

ARTS

“Mystery Science Theater 3000 Live!”

Never underestimate the power of fandom. For getting “MST3K” revived on Netflix, they’re being rewarded with the first-ever national tour, “Watch Out for Snakes!” Show creator Joel Hodgson is joined by the reboot’s host, Jonah Heston, for back-to-back sci-fi screenings with wily robots, live riffing and audience participation. The first film is fan favorite “Eegah!” (with all new commentary, natch) and the second is a surprise (so it may be worth getting tickets to both). July 8, 6 & 9:30 p.m., Playstation Theater, 1515 Broadway, $39.50-$49.50, playstationtheater.com

DANCE

Insitu Dance Festival

LIC visitors strolling the four parks along the waterfront this weekend might feel like they’re entering some kind of midsummer night’s dream as they witness nymph-like creatures leaping through the greens, cavorting in playgrounds, and twirling in the air against the river and skyline scenery. For two days, the Insitu Dance Fest showcases 75 site-specific, immersive dance pieces from 24 choreographers, with an after-party Sunday at 7 at Anable Basin Sailing Bar & Grill. July 8-9, Noon-7 p.m., LIC Waterfront, free, insitudancefestival.com

DANCE

History of Burlesque

Sip specialty cocktails while getting an interactive education in burlesque. Atlas Obscura’s “History of Burlesque” dives into the background of the dance genre, led by entertainer and educator Doctor Lucky. As they’re discussed, styles are demonstrated by dancers like Gin Minsky, Ms. Tickle, Perle Noir and Lady Aye. The cabaret-lecture takes place Sunday at Littlefield (be sure to note the new location). July 9, 7-10 p.m., Littlefield, 635 Sackett St., Brooklyn, $20-$35, atlasobscura.com

MUSIC

Hip Hop Festival

Pick up what they’re putting down at the Hip Hop Festival this week. It kicks off with an interview with MC Rakim, celebrating 30 years since the debut of “Paid in Full,” followed by a mix of film screenings, concerts and special events, like a “Speak the Truth” conference dedicated to social justice and empowerment. On the final blowout night, DMX performs at Brooklyn Bridge Park with the Lox, Mack Wilds and Oshun. DJ Stretch and Bobbito party next door at St. Ann’s Warehouse. July 10-15, Various locations and times, Brooklyn, Free-$180, bkhiphopfestival.com
