Three people were killed early Tuesday morning when two tractor-trailers, a car and a pickup truck collided on theCross Bronx Expressway, officials said.
The accident occurred around 5:45 a.m. on the highway’s eastbound side near Webster Avenue in the Bronx.
Three men traveling in the pickup truck died at the scene. Investigators haven’t disclosed the names of the men.
Two other pasengers in the pickup, the driver of a Toyota sedan and the truck drivers were taken to local hospitals, police said.
All lanes were closed while investigators probed the scene, grinding traffic to a hault. Delays of up to 80 minutes on the George Washington Bridge into the city were reported.
