3 Reasons why the Yanks fall short

1 Lee gets help

The World Series was the last time the Bombers faced ace Cliff Lee. They lost both games against the ridiculous lefty but hit the other starters (Cole Hamels, Pedro Martinez and Joe Blanton). The Yankees will face C.J. Wilson and Tommy Hunter, two pitchers who also pitched well in the ALDS.

2 Burnett bombs

If the Yankees are down 2-1 going into Game 4, they will be trusting A.J. Burnett to not be a complete disaster. Burnett said he felt good after Wednesday’s simulated game and pitched decently against Texas during the regular season, but it could be near impossible to recover from another Burnett clunker.

3 Running on fumes

When the Red Sox swiped four in the ninth inning off Jorge Posada last month, they gave a scouting report to future Yankees opponents. The Twins did not attempt one stolen base, but after stealing six out of seven in the ALDS, the Rangers will be ready to steal off the experienced — but broken down — Posada.
