A celeb’s guide to New York

Amidst the daily hustle and bustle (and sometimes, the occupying of Wall Street) of New York City, it is easy to forget that we live in one of the greatest cities in the world. But Jeryl Brunner’s new book, “My City, My New York,” helps remind us of the beauty and magnificence of the city, while also offering up tips and insights from New York notables.

“It holds a dual purpose. On one hand, it gives information on some of the best places the city has to offer; and on the other, it has a personal element to it,” she explains.

Nearly 300 celebrities, including Woody Allen, Tina Fey, Sarah Jessica Parker and Mayor Michael Bloomberg, share their thoughts on some of the best places in the city. Some divulge the names of their favorite restaurants and shopping districts, while others simply offer up what they consider the best spot in Central Park.

“Everyone has their own unique ritual. Everyone has their own notion of a perfect day in New York,”?Brunner elaborates. “It is different for each individual. But when you put them all in a book, it becomes a declaration of love and admiration for the city.”

As for Brunner, who moved to the city in 1983, her idea of a perfect New?York day is to simply ride along the Hudson River bike path, enjoy a salad at Barney’s, and then catch a play in the evening.

“The possibilities to enjoy the city are just limitless,”?Brunner says. “You’ll find that in the book, the celebrities talk about all these different things to do or see, and even I haven’t even done them all yet.”
