A lot to offer at Somerville’s Assembly Row

More than a baker’s dozen of shops are slated to open in Somerville’s Assembly Row this spring and yes, Mike’s Pastry is one of them.

With the second phase of major construction in the three-year-old planned neighborhood nearing completion, the square will soon boast more than 100 shops and restaurants and over 1,000 residences.

“The passionate response to Assembly Row continues to exceed our expectations,” said Matt Ehrie, vice president and general manager of Assembly Row. “Whether people are coming here to shop, eat or be entertained, whether to live or to work, they tell us how they discover something new each time they visit. We’re excited to begin unveiling the second phase, which will provide even more options for our residents, office employees and visitors.”

The expansion includes two residential towers: a 447-unit apartment building and a 122-unit condominium building.

Besides Mike’s Pastry, the beloved North End sweet shop, the new additions include the square’s first grocery store, its first hotel, a boutique fitness center, and more bars and retailers.

Somerville-based based American Fresh Brewhouse will expand from its current indoor/outdoor beer garden into a fully developed indoor restaurant and brewpub.

As for entertainment, Lucky Strike Social will open this fall, bringing together food, booze, live music, and arcade games and old-school favorites like pool, ping pong, shuffleboard, and of course, bowling, in one immersive venue.

“With a sophisticated backdrop to unfettered fun, Lucky Strike Social is a one-of-a-kind entertainment experience and a new destination for Somerville residents” said Steven Foster, owner & CEO of Lucky Strike Entertainment.
