Accused in man’s slaying appears in court

An Eastern Passage woman accused of the first-degree murder of her former boyfriend briefly appeared in a provincial courtroom Thursday.

Amanda Greene, 18, was in the Shubenacadie provincial court for just a few minutes.

She is scheduled to re-appear in court on Nov. 25 for election and/or plea over the death of Dillon Jewett.

Jewett, a Dartmouth man who worked as a furniture mover, was found dead near the East Uniacke Quarry on Oct. 3. He had been shot to death.

Greene, who graduated from Cole Harbour High School, is a first-year Dalhousie University student.

Greene was charged with Jewett’s murder over the weekend after police arrested her at a service station in Eastern Passage.

RCMP have said a firearm was used to kill Jewett, but wouldn’t say how many times he was shot.

Greene’s Facebook page lists Jewett as a friend and Greene’s most recent status update was a tribute to the Dartmouth man.

“I can’t believe you’re really gone, but I now know I have an angel in heaven watching down below. I love you and always will R.I.P. Dillon,” read the Oct. 7 post.
